Really I'm an opportunist photographer. You could argue that (say) for this shot, I could've/should've waited for 'golden hour' or 'blue hour' or a special hour to capture the best lighting conditions for this scene. That's just not how it works in my life ATM. A week off work means a quick lap 'round' the beautiful and rugged West Coast of Tassie, on holiday. So photography, while a passion and keen pursuit, means that it is grabs of opportunity at whatever time of the day, weather and light conditions present themselves. I've been to a few galleries lately with beautiful photos and contemplated the time, patience and skill required to produce the images.
One day I might actually get out of bed at the right time...
Suffice to say though I do quite like this image. Black and white seems to suit the bare-ish hills of Queenstown. Contrasting the brightness of the gravel in the foreground directly with the crushed blacks of the foliage.
